What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I work as a photographer and art director for a luxury media agency in Australia. On my alternate free days I manage my social media page on Instagram and create travel and lifestyle content!

I usually receive a brief from a client and will pull up a whole bunch of images which give me inspiration - whether it be travel, a magazine, an inspiring line from a book or Pinterest - I will pull together a big moodboard and develop my ideas from there.

Where did you grow up? How did you keep in touch with Asian culture?

I am South African born Taiwanese but currently reside in Australia and New York.

Growing up as a Taiwanese born South African was always very challenging, as the Asian population is the minority back home. I had an identity struggle for a while as I felt neither Asian nor South African for a long time. My family always encouraged me to look beyond the cultural differences - and to be thankful for all the opportunities we get given - no matter how big or small. Over the years I'd make an annual trip to Taiwan to see all my relatives from my mother's side of the family. Learning about my heritage, eating local street food and speaking Mandarin over the years really helped me to keep in touch with my Taiwanese culture. My family is quite conservative - but I believe it has helped shape a lot of my beliefs and morals to this day.

I believe studying Architecture and Design at the university of Sydney really helped to contribute to my visual palette as it helped me to develop my eye for composition.
