It is with great disappointment that we respond to the issue at the heart of the Dolce & Gabbana incident yesterday. The campaign was a huge step backwards in terms of Chinese and Asian representation at-large. This image of a mute, quiet, docile, uneducated and childish Chinese individual is exactly the opposite of what we expect of global brands when they seek to portray Chinese culture.
