While the excitement of the Winter Olympics still lingers, another global stage of excellence is fast approaching: the prestigious Bocuse d’Or, where culinary athletes compete for international recognition and honour. This summer, Chef Keith Pears will represent Team Canada at the Americas selection, and in support of his journey, Vancouver’s beloved Anh and Chi is marking its 10th anniversary with a special one-night-only fundraising dinner on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Amelie & parents at Pho Hoang
From its earliest days, Anh and Chi has been a celebration of family, heritage, and community. The restaurant’s name, Anh and Chi, meaning elder brother and elder sister, reflects respect, connection, and shared belonging within a community. Founded by siblings Vincent and Amélie Nguyễn, children of Vietnamese refugees, the restaurant carries forward the legacy of their parents, who arrived in Canada as boat people in 1980 and built Vancouver’s first long-standing Pho specialty house. Inspired by their mother Lý Nguyên, Anh and Chi has become a vibrant destination with authentic Vietnamese cuisine, thoughtful cocktails, and cultural storytelling. Recognised as a Michelin Bib Gourmand from 2022–2025, the restaurant exemplifies culinary excellence while honouring the values of generosity and connection that have defined the family for decades. It is fitting that their 10th-anniversary celebration supports Team Canada at the Bocuse d’Or.

The fundraiser dinner brings together two inspiring mother-and-son duos: Chefs Ly Nguyen and Vincent Nguyen of Anh and Chi, alongside Chef Keith Pears and his mother, Chef Lynda Larouche. Together, they have curated a 10-course family-style menu that honours Vietnamese culinary heritage, mentorship, and the next generation of chefs. Highlights include geoduck betel leaf canapés, Dungeness “Cà Ri Cua” fried rice, caramelized sablefish wrapped in banana leaf, and Chef Ly and Chef Lynda’s signature dessert, “love letter.”
Fête Chinoise has had the pleasure of presenting Chef Pears and Pears Restaurant at our Mid-Autumn Community Celebration and as a featured chef at our 2026 Signature Event, and we are excited to see him continue to inspire the next generation of Canadian chefs.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day, the celebration also pays tribute to the trailblazing women who have shaped the Canadian culinary industry, including the mothers in both duos, whose mentorship continues to inspire young chefs across Canada. Culinary Olympian Keith Pears notes, “Cooking alongside the Nguyen family is incredibly meaningful because they represent resiliency in Canada’s often challenging hospitality industry, while being able to celebrate Vietnamese cuisine on their own terms.”
