This wedding was more than an event; it was an artistic curation of love and culture. Beyond aesthetics, the celebration was designed to foster appreciation, connection, and understanding between two families and their traditions.
— Lotus & Navid

This extraordinary wedding between a Chinese bride and a Persian groom was more than just a beautiful event—it was a thoughtfully curated cultural story. Every detail was meticulously designed, not only to preserve the integrity of each tradition but also to create an immersive experience for every guest. From ceremonial arrangements and entertainment to personalized keepsakes, interactive games, and culinary selections, this wedding was a heartfelt tribute to the couple’s rich family heritage, ensuring it became a truly unforgettable memory.

At the heart of this wedding was the seamless integration of two deeply rooted cultures, through the passing down of traditions, allowing both families and their guests to witness the profound beauty of cultural heritage. A cornerstone of Chinese weddings, the tea ceremony, symbolizes respect for elders and the unification of two families. Dressed in traditional attire, the bride and groom served tea to their parents, receiving blessings and gifts in return. A Persian wedding would not be complete without the Sofreh Aghd, an exquisitely arranged spread filled with symbolic items representing prosperity, love, and happiness. During the sugar rubbing ceremony, female relatives gently rubbed sugar cones above the couple’s heads, wishing them a sweet and harmonious marriage.

To create a truly immersive and memorable celebration, Lotus and Navid incorporated interactive cultural experiences for their guests. First, there was the chess corner. Honoring the game's Persian origins, this station invited guests to engage with a timeless tradition. Next, there was the Jenga challenge. A playful nod to building strong foundations, this Western-inspired game added fun and symbolism to the festivities. There was also the Chinese zodiac reading where guests discovered insights into their zodiac signs and how they connected with the couple’s, offering a meaningful glimpse into Chinese culture.

To ensure that guests took home meaningful keepsakes, the couples designed an interactive lucky draw station. These keepsakes include fortune bookmarks, Chinese stamps, and Persian sweets and custom luggage tags.

A truly immersive wedding allowed guests to participate. Lotus and Navid designed culturally significant wedding games to ensure engagement and enjoyment. The guests got to take part in the Chinese wedding door games, which included dancing, drinking, and answering questions about the bride. Furthermore, the guests took part in the Persian cake cutting ritual, which symbolized negotiation and partnership in marriage.

Food is the ultimate cultural expression, and the wedding had a menu that reflected the couple’s diverse heritage, transforming the wedding meal into a culinary journey. The couple opted for Chinese-style communal dining, allowing guests to share dishes and fostering a sense of warmth and togetherness. A meticulously selected menu featured both Chinese and Persian delicacies, ensuring that every dish honored the couple’s cultural roots.

This wedding was more than an event; it was an artistic curation of love and culture. Beyond aesthetics, the celebration was designed to foster appreciation, connection, and understanding between two families and their traditions. From carefully planned rituals to interactive guest experiences, they ensured that every detail carried meaning, making the Chinese-Persian wedding not just an elegant affair, but a true celebration of heritage, unity, and love.

The wedding design seamlessly brought the essence of a lush garden into the elegance of a hotel ballroom, creating an environment where guests felt as if they had stepped into a verdant paradise. One of the standout details was the butterfly-shaped place cards that looked as if they had just fluttered down from the surrounding blooms, gracefully resting at each seat. Complemented by silk tassels for a sense of movement, these delicate butterflies elegantly guided guests to their places. Every aspect—from colour selection to texture and typography—was carefully curated to reflect warmth and meticulous attention to detail. The table setting embraced a natural aesthetic, featuring layers of greenery and florals arranged at varying heights to create depth and dimension. At the heart of the venue stood an exquisite floral fountain, its cascading tiers surrounded by dense foliage and delicate blossoms. The interplay of lighting and music further enriched the guest experience. Soft, sunlit-inspired lighting bathed the space in a warm, natural glow, replicating the feeling of an outdoor garden under a golden sky. This wedding was not only a visually stunning event, it was a sensory journey where sound, light, and space merged to create a deeply emotive experience. Every detail was infused with intention, evoking an unforgettable sense of warmth and connection.

For the Sofreh Aghd ceremony, the couple envisioned a setting that seamlessly blended Persian tradition with an ethereal garden aesthetic. The focal point was a grand mirror-backed setup framed by lush floral arrangements, cascading candles, and shimmering crystal accents.

Every symbolic element of the Sofreh was thoughtfully curated and displayed atop mirrored surfaces to enhance the luminous and reflective quality of the design. The floral selection included soft pastel hues, with an emphasis on roses, dahlias, and delicate greenery, evoking a sense of romance and timeless elegance. Silver and crystal candelabras adorned the table, casting a warm, intimate glow over the ceremony.

The tea ceremony setup was designed as both a meaningful space for tradition and an interactive experience for guests. Drawing inspiration from the bride’s love for blue and white porcelain, traditional Chinese elements with a modern artistic touch were incorporated.

A classic Chinese console table and intricately designed wooden screen dividers anchored the setup, providing a visually striking backdrop that harmonized with the venue’s deep jade-green walls. The color was intentionally chosen to represent jade, a symbol of purity and longevity in Chinese culture.

Designing the ceremony space by transforming two vastly different venues into a singular, cohesive experience, was a challenge of continuity. The outdoor ceremony at Hycroft was designed as an extension of its natural surroundings, featuring luxuriant floral installations intertwined with the venue’s grand columns. Using a soft, romantic palette of blush, ivory, and hints of sage green, the aisle was lined with flowing fabric and floral arrangements that felt organic yet refined.
