On Sunday, September 13, 2026, the global film community gathered at Toronto’s iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel for the eighth annual TIFF Tribute Awards. As the Toronto International Film Festival’s largest annual fundraiser, the gala celebrated remarkable contributions to screen storytelling while supporting year-round initiatives that broaden access to cinema and empower emerging artists.
Underpinning the evening was Rolex’s ongoing commitment to the cinematic arts as the Presenting Partner of the TIFF Tribute Awards. The 2026 Tribute Awards gala brought together industry leaders and visionary artists, honouring a distinguished cohort of honorees:
Penélope Cruz was presented with the TIFF Special Tribute Award (presented by CHANEL), honouring her extraordinary international legacy and ongoing contributions as one of cinema’s most accomplished performers.
Lee Chang-dong, the visionary Korean auteur, received the TIFF Ebert Director Award (presented by The Tory Family) for his transformative impact on world cinema.
Isabelle Huppert and Rosalind Eleazar were recognized with TIFF Tribute Performer Awards, celebrating their captivating and nuanced screen performances.
Siân Heder, Academy Award–winning filmmaker, received the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media (presented by Anne-Marie Canning) for her work uniting social impact with powerful visual narrative.
Helen Mirren was honoured with the TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award (presented by Joanna Griffiths and the Women of Knix), alongside special tributes recognizing Bassam Tariq and Adam Pietkiewicz.
As TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey noted in celebration of this year's honourees, the awards recognize individual mastery and the profound power of storytelling to bridge cultures and transform how we see the world. On September 14, 2026, Fête Chinoise hosted an intimate reception for 35 guests at Aera Restaurant at The Well, celebrating Fala Chen and the premiere of her directorial debut, Bloodline, at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film premiered earlier that morning at Scotiabank Theatre Toronto as part of TIFF’s Short Cuts Programme, with a hugely positive response from audience members. Following this important milestone, friends and members of the film gathered to continue the celebration.
