Standing before our loved ones, declaring our love and commitment to each other, was a truly magical and unforgettable experience.
— Angie & Steven

In the heart of Vancouver, a love story blossomed between two long-distance students bonding over shared aspirations. Their wedding, held at the Paradox Hotel, was a beautiful blend of Chinese heritage and contemporary Canadian West Coast elements, including local decor and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. With exquisite Western cuisine and signature cocktails, their celebration seamlessly integrated culture with modern identity, embodying the essence of Fête Chinoise with love and multicultural elegance.

Angie and Steven’s love story began through a CFA exam study group, growing stronger despite a long-distance challenge. They envisioned a future filled with mutual support, adventure, career growth, travel, and starting a family.

Aiming for a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the couple incorporated significant cultural elements into their celebration. The traditional Chinese tea ceremony was a heartwarming gesture, where they served tea to their parents and elders as a sign of respect and gratitude. This ritual symbolized the joining of their families and honoured their heritage. Traditional door games added a fun touch, with the groom and his groomsmen completing challenges to prove his love. Red pockets were given to the bridal party and younger relatives, symbolizing good luck and prosperity.

The Paradox Hotel was chosen for its exceptional ballroom facilities, elegant design, and outstanding service. The ceiling is like a contemporary representation of a canopy of old growth trees of British Columbia, which beautifully framed the room. With around 120 guests, the venue was transformed into a dreamy space by We Do, who provided planning, design, decor, and florals. Palette Creative captured every moment as their photographer, while Momo, a skilled makeup and hair stylist, helped them achieve their desired look. Their first dance, surrounded by loved ones, was a standout performance they will always treasure.

Balancing their culture with their Canadian identity, the couple infused personal style into every aspect of the event by incorporating Western elements in the decor, attire, and food choices, creating a cohesive and inclusive experience. Their Western cuisine menu and signature cocktails offered an elegant dining experience, adding an extra layer of excitement to the evening.

Despite challenges in coordinating the various cultural elements, the most memorable moment for the couple was exchanging vows, a magical and intimate experience that will stay with them forever. Their wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love, heritage, and the multiculturalism that defines Canada.

“Our first dance was a moment we'll always treasure, surrounded by our loved ones, dancing to a song that speaks to our hearts.”–Angie & Steven
