Hong Kong Fashion Fest 2026 kicked off its third annual edition on September 1st with its flagship opening event VIRTUOSE: The Artistry of Couture.

Against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s iconic evening skyline, fashionistas, movie stars, designers, models, patrons of high society, and international media gathered at the Hong Kong Palace Museum. As guests ascended to the second floor, they entered a large courtyard where the pathway was illuminated by warm floor lighting and a dramatic VIRTUOSE sign. Anticipation built as guests passed through the museum’s front pavilion gates, architecturally designed to mirror the grand entrance of the Forbidden City.

Indeed, the Hong Kong Palace Museum was envisioned to bridge Chinese heritage with a modern, global audience, reflected both in its curated exhibits and in the architectural design. How fitting that VIRTUOSE, organized by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) to showcase culturally inspired fashion using traditional craftsmanship, chose this venue to present four visionary couturiers: Guillermo Decimo from Spain, Phan Huy from Vietnam, and Tigerstrolling and Vivian Luk from Hong Kong.

Inside, the museum’s main foyer had been transformed into a dramatic room swathed in red for the signature event. VIRTUOSE brought these four international designers together in a vibrant creative exchange, with each presenting ten bespoke creations that reflected their distinct cultural roots and fashion philosophies.

In a world where fast fashion has become the norm, bearing witness to the exquisite detail, vision, and passion of these designers—each bringing a distinctive style while harnessing traditional techniques and materials to present couture in refreshing ways—was a true privilege.

There is something profoundly moving about watching creators fully commit to their calling, those who pursue their craft with absolute dedication and courage. True artistic expression carries a purity that transcends backgrounds, speaking directly to our shared human experience. Whether one is a seasoned industry veteran, a discerning fashion collector, or an appreciative observer, our emotional response to beauty is immediate and deeply felt.

In an era where the world of haute couture is opening its doors to wider audiences, events like VIRTUOSE remind us of fashion’s unique power to unite us. Through the vision of the HKFDA, cross-cultural collaborations bring these creative dreams into the light, allowing us all to share in the wonder of human artistry.
