Horse in Full Stride
65 × 98 cm | Original Contemporary Calligraphy Artwork
By Jameson Yap

“Horse in Full Stride captures the spirit of momentum, strength, and forward movement. Created using bold, free-flowing ink strokes, the work draws inspiration from the horse in motion, its vitality, resilience, and unwavering drive. The brush moves with intention yet without restraint, allowing energy to gather and release naturally across the paper.

This piece holds special meaning for me as it is dedicated to Canada, a place that has deeply touched my artistic journey. Since exhibiting and performing live art there two years ago, I have felt an enduring connection to the collectors, followers, and creative community who have shown such generous support. I remain sincerely grateful for that encouragement.

Created in celebration of the Year of the Horse, this work is offered as a gesture of gratitude and a wish for the year ahead to move forward with confidence, courage, and clarity. I hope it brings strength and positive momentum to the Fête Chinoise community and to all who encounter it.”

Featured in the 2026 Fête Chinoise Signature Event Silent Auction.
The Silent Auction will Close on February 9th at 11:59 a.m. (EST).

It isn’t often that you hear a calligrapher cite Pablo Picasso as a major influence, but that’s exactly what Jameson Yap shared when we sat down to talk about his inspiration, process and journey. It turns out that Picasso was very much a fan of the ancient Chinese art, even going so far as to proclaim: “Had I been born Chinese, I would have been a calligrapher, not a painter.”
